Ice Dreams

"The blend of photographs and sound in this story was perfect. Darren Carroll is onto something very strong here. Nothing too distracting in the interface, just the power of the images and the documentary sound. I hope to see many more like this!"

"Does anyone have any information on getting game worn jerseys? My wife loves Austin and I play goal and would love to get a goalie gamer. Are they auctioned? Sold by the lot? By the jersey? Thanx....Lew"

"Ice Bats story; very nice. I especially liked the way you met the requirements of the "lowest common denominator" when it comes to viewers with less robust computers than my G3. This is wonderful storytelling. An inspiration to anyone who sees the web as a way to distribute story, image and sound. Thank you.

"This was a really nice use of Shockwave. Actually, I would like to learn more about how to create this sort of, whaddya call it, a multimedia event/article? I hate the word multimedia because it reminds me of stupid slide shows and even stupider overhead projections...of geeks like me who ran the fucking projectors, usually getting things fouled up. Anyway, the Ice Dreams article is well done, if a bit rough in places, and I congratulate you on a great online magazine, or whatever you call it. We don't really have the nomenclature for this new internet experience down yet, do we? Or is it just me...maybe I need to read Wired more often. Well, I'll keep popping by to look at your stuff. I would really like to learn more about how it's done, so why not post an article or two in a Tech Section that gives an overview of the process?

"Great job Darren! I lived in Toronto for many years and love hockey. I miss it here in sunny West Australia. Your pics really captured the flavour of (minor league) hockey and I think you're an excellent shooter.
I belong to a group of local photojoutrnalists who are about to start an e-zine.
I'll be posting journale's URL and mentioning your story to the guys on our list.
Keep up the good work.

"Why is the sound 'wobbling?' It's rather distracting from the whole look of the piece which is quite good otherwise.

Thanks."

"Hello from Hockeytown.

Great piece, excellent presentation. I'm primed once again to put on my skates and dream. Although I can only skate on my lunch for about an hour every other day, this piece made me realize that my dreams of hockey stardom are best left as dreams. (I like my teeth.)
