© Timothy Fadek During the week, the children attend public schools with special programs for the emotionally disturbed. After school they concentrate on finishing homework so they can participate in the group meeting which is led by a staff member. This gives the children a chance to talk about their day with others.

Although the children are forced to "cool down" after a conflict with staff or other children, they are discouraged from remaining alone for too long.
