Steinway is not perfect and is certainly
no substitute for a real home. Plans for weekend trips to the beach,
museums, sports events or the movies often fall through because of lack
of planning.
With the exception of schoolwork, the children don't read on their own
or are they read to by the staff. Despite the art therapy sessions held
once a week, the atmosphere is not conducive to individual interests,
such as art, music, writing or other solitary activities.
It is difficult for the children to focus their attention on one activity
which requires concentrated thought for an extended period of time.
