The
Athlete is the product of a collaboration between photographers
Jonathan Anderson and Edwin Low. The full body of work consists of over
120 Black and White prints of athletes from Asia, Europe, the United States
and Australia. During this year's summer Olympics, the work will be on
display in Sydney at the Byron
Mapp Gallery and in New York at Wessell
O'Connor Gallery. The work has also been exhibited this summer at
The National Portrait
Gallery of Australia.
Anderson & Low, who met while sharing darkroom space, have worked as a
photographic team since 1990. Their photographic collaborations encompass
the realms of portraiture, still life, nudes and architecture. Their commissioned
work has appeared in various newspapers, magazines and commercial venues.
Their work has also been acquired by The National Portrait Gallery, UK
and also shown in numerous galleries throughout Europe, Asia and America.
