ten,
Kenya - Quiet singing is coming from the kitchen at Risper's house.
We are sitting in the living room sipping a cup of tea talking about
school work and studying in the United States. I thought that I had met
all of Risper's family and am surprised to see another face bringing out
the tea pot. Ris introduces me to Lilian Juliana, a shy girl of
seventeen who blushes when spoken to and refuses to make eye contact.
"Hello," she says softly looking away and darting back into the
kitchen. "If someone says who is Lilian, we say she is our sister or our
aunt, we don't talk as if she is not our relative," says Risper, "but
you as my friend, I tell you that. We stay like sisters and brothers,
and that's good."
